Welcome! I’m a Mexican American therapist and my passion is providing care to the BIPOC community, but I enjoy working with anyone who is looking for support on the path towards greater self-discovery and healing. I specialize in treating childhood trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, loss and grief, and feelings of low self-esteem. My approach to therapy is creating a non-judgmental and compassionate space where you can feel comfortable sharing your story.
Dynamics and patterns that you may be seeking to heal and change often originated long ago as a means of coping and survival. Sometimes these are passed on in our families due to intergenerational trauma and for people of color this could include racism, discrimination, and racial historical trauma. Our personal pain is closely intertwined with societal problems. My goal is to provide space where you can explore both individual and collective hurts you find yourself faced with. Through this exploration you will develop greater self-clarify, confidence, and can take steps towards a thriving life.
As your therapist I will help guide you to gain a greater understanding of the challenges you face in a way that shifts from self-blame and shame.
Narrative therapy is an approach that I will use in our sessions which allows you to process life experiences and emotions. I also incorporate this with Internal Family Systems and somatic informed approaches, and meditation/mindfulness (sensefulness) practices.
I’m trained (level 1) in Emotional Freedom Techniques (tapping). In addition, I have extensive training in Morita Therapy, an experiential and ecological approach developed in Japan for holistic healing.
